Brgy. Osman-San Dimas Producers Cooperative: best NGP implementer in Aklan

Merlene Aborka of Aklan Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO), eight of these 23 PO’s are government partners in National Greening Program (NGP) implementation. PENRO Ivene Reyes said that one of the best among these PO’s is the Osman-San Dimas Producers Cooperative (OSPC) in Brgy. Osman, Malinao, Aklan. PENRO-Aklan targets to plant almost 1.5 has NGP target area

Tapayan The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO) –Aklan continues on preparing and planting activities to meet the National Greening Program (NGP) target area of 1,414.00 hectares all over the province this year 2016. At the end of July 2016, PENRO-Aklan reported that they already planted 991.00 has. equivalent to 70% of the yearly target. Covering 2011 to 2015, PENRO-Aklan has planted 6, 346.70 has. of forestland areas with 4.1 million seedlings in 60 barangays within 15 municipalities. This is equivalent to .27% of the National Goal in planting of 1.5 billion seedlings and .42% in 1.5 mil. has.  for the five-year period of implementation of NGP. In this period of the project, PENRO-Aklan prevalent commodities of NGP plantation were timber, indigenous,fuel wood, cacao, coffee, fruit trees, bamboo, mangrove, rubber and urban greening.
